This website is my
Personal Commonplace Book (PCB). It is a collection of ideas, concepts, resources, papers, and other things that seem to (in some way) be related to the research, teaching, service and consulting work that I do. Some of the material is things that I have written or are working on. It also includes references, quotes, and sometimes even copies of material from other sources that I thought was or might be useful.
The PCB is not about me or the things around me. It is about the idea/concept space that I am inhabiting, using, and creating. It is essentially an attempt to make visible the materials of intellectual work (as messy as they may be).
While much of this material is public, and hence visible to anyone, I have limited editing to people who I have given accounts (not because I am worry about what people have to say - but simply because managing junk in a purely public space is a fulltime job). There will also be occasions where I limit access to particular pages - but hopefully the need to do this will be rare.
This site is a single instantiation of the Personal Commonplace Project which is itself a subset of the larger Resource Discovery and Entrepreneurial Use Project. As such it is both a practical tool (to the degree that making my work visible is 'practical') and an action research project.
