Handbook of Research on Dental Computing and Applications: Advanced Techniques for Clinical Dentistry

[edit] Introduction

The handbook will present the main concepts of the applications of Computing in Clinical Dentistry. This book will lead students and advanced researchers to an understanding of current ideas in the analysis of dental data with informatic tools and will provide general information on how to search for and find evidence-based medical and dental information on the Web. The role of technology in the dental office and common technology-related problems in a general dental practice will be also presented. The Handbook of Research on Dental Computing and Applications: Advanced Techniques for Clinical Dentistry will provide a compendium of terms, definitions, explanations of concepts, processes and acronyms. Additionally, this volume will feature chapters authored by leading experts offering an in-depth description of key terms and concepts related to different areas, issues and trends in information science and technologies in hospitals and other organizations worldwide. The Handbook is scheduled for publishing by Information Science Reference (formerly Idea Group Reference), an imprint of IGI Global (formerly Idea Group Inc.), www.igi-pub.com, in 2008.

[edit] Submissions

Individuals interested in submitting chapters (5,000-7,500 words) on the above-suggested topics or other related topics in their area of interest should submit via e-mail a 2-3 page manuscript proposal clearly explaining the mission and concerns of the proposed chapter by October 15, 2007. We strongly encourage other topics that have not been listed in our suggested list, particularly if the topic is related to the research area in which you have expertise. Upon acceptance of your proposal, you will have until February 1, 2008, to prepare your chapter of 5,000-7,500 words and 7-10 related terms and their appropriate definitions. Guidelines for preparing your paper and terms and definitions will be sent to you upon acceptance of your proposal. All submitted chapters will undergo a double-blind peer review.
